What I lacked?
The courage to own my voice.
6 1/2 years later, and I’m still finding my voice when it comes to social media
But here is what I keep reminding myself:
When I coach people who are afraid to stand up in front of a crowd and give a speech I know that:
- It is never about the speech.
- Or the crowd.
It is about their fear of owning their voice.
Despite its value.
It is some form of
- They will laugh at me
- They will know I don't know what I'm talking about
- They will see who I truly am
- I am unworthy of being an expert on anything.
Once I point that out, it is their job to explore it and my job to give them the confidence to stand in front of the room.
Because of their value.
After all, what is the difference between standing up in front of a crowd and posting on social media?
Owning your voice isn’t just about speaking. It’s about believing in the power of what you have to say.
