Stories Only Stick if They Are ‘Sticky’ – Part 1: Simple

This is a six part series which breaks down the different elements featured in “Made To Stick” by Chip and Dan Heath.

Why the storytelling element of 'SIMPLE' is sticky.

Because if the story you are telling or the example you are giving is so complex that people can’t understand it, they will stop reading or listening.

If no one is listening, how can they remember the story?

Remember, simple isn’t about “dumbing things down”. It is about tailoring it to the audience to whom you are speaking so that it is easily consumable for that audience. This may require that you have several versions of one story or one speech depending on the audience.

Simple, right?
